Raw Material Preparation

The production of BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) jumbo roll tape begins with the careful selection of raw materials. The primary component is BOPP film, which is created by stretching polypropylene in two directions to enhance its strength and clarity. The quality of the polymer used significantly impacts the final product’s performance, including adhesive adhesion and durability.
Once the polypropylene is sourced, it undergoes a series of processing steps, such as extrusion and orientation. During the extrusion process, the polymer is melted and formed into a film. This film is then stretched both longitudinally and transversely, which gives BOPP its characteristic properties. The resulting film must meet specific thickness and width requirements before moving on to the next stage.
Coating Process
Following the preparation of the BOPP film, the next step is the application of adhesive. This is a crucial part of the production process, as the quality and type of adhesive will determine the tape’s functionality. Various adhesives can be used depending on the intended application, ranging from acrylic to rubber-based adhesives.
The adhesive is typically applied through a coating machine that ensures an even layer across the entire surface of the BOPP film. After the adhesive is applied, the film goes through a drying process to remove any moisture and ensure the adhesive sets properly. This step is vital for achieving optimal performance in terms of bonding strength and aging resistance.

Slitting and Packaging
After the coating process, the BOPP jumbo roll tape is ready for slitting. In this stage, the large rolls of tape are cut into smaller, more manageable sizes, which can then be packaged for distribution. Precision is key during slitting, as inconsistencies can lead to waste or difficulties in later applications.
Finally, the slitted tape rolls undergo quality checks to ensure they meet industry standards. Once approved, they are packaged carefully to prevent damage during transportation. This packaging process often includes labeling and sealing to provide information about the product and maintain its integrity until it reaches the end consumer.
